Dickxie Lee Brizendine passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. There are no services per Dickxie’s request.
Dickxie was born on February 24, 1936 to Ralph A. Veatch and Julia Florence Hilgers Veatch in Plainville, Kansas. In her youth, her parents and siblings moved to California where she finished growing up. There she met Hugh R. Brizendine and they married and had 5 children in this union. Later in life they divorced and she never remarried.
Dickxie was a nurse’s aide and private duty nurse’s aide for most of her working carrier. She liked doing crafts, canning, traveling when she could, and time with her dog Tippy. It can be said by anyone who knew her that she could talk to a stranger or fence post if it could talk back and lived her life the way she wanted to and always got things done her way.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Micheal D. Brizendine and Randy W. Brizendine.
Survivors include her remaining children, Pamela J. Lee of California, MO, David R. Brizendine (Wanda) of Louisburg, KS, and Julia Pentz (Delmar) of Macksville, KS; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog Tippy.
