Lowell D. (L.D.) Williams, 77, of K.C., Missouri, was granted his angel wings on December 24, 2011. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family and friends (presence, thoughts, prayers, and spirit) for whom he influenced and touched throughout his life.
L.D. was born on June 10th, 1934 to Douglas (“a railroad engineer”) and Gladys Williams of Nevada, MO. Along with 7 siblings, L.D. worked on the family farm from “the time he could walk” until eventually moving to Wichita, and shortly after the greater K.C. area where he started his 44 year career as a truck driver and mechanic. L.D. (the Town Hound) drove for several different companies, including Time (D.C.) and A.B.F., and logged over 4 million miles. L.D. was a member of the Local 41 Teamsters, and lifelong member of the Grandview chapter of the Royal Arch/ Masonic Lodge. He gained his greatest satisfaction spending time with his friends and family, helping them fix just about anything, no matter how big or small the task. Their lasting memories of L.D. will be filled with stories, laughter, and admiration. He had a beautiful heart, cared for everyone, and will shine on in heaven.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lynette, his sons Dustin and Jason Dugan, daughter-in-law Melissa, grandchildren Collin and Savannah, his brother Richard, sister Fern Swann, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. A celebration of his life will be held December 30th at 2:00 PM, at the East Independence Church of Christ.
