Mildred Irene Poage, 86, of Oak Grove, MO passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at the North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, MO. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 400 Southeast 14th Street-Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. preceding the service at the church. Burial 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in the Allen Cemetery- Gower, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Murrow Indian Children’s Home- 2540 Murrow Circle, Muskogee, OK 74403.

Irene was born February 12, 1924 in Weston, MO to Edgar Tipton and Lula May (Moore) Hamm. She worked as a cook for the East Buchanan School District, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, The Elderberry’s, and faithfully attended and volunteered at the Davis Memorial Senior Center in Oak Grove, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Floyd Guinn Poage; her parents: Edgar and Lula Hamm; one brother: Milford Hamm and two sisters: Lydia Mae Thomas and Rachel Jean Reed.

Her survivors include two sons: Jack Dean Webber and wife Judy of Oak Grove, MO, Eddie Gene McCarty and wife Shirley of Brandon, FL; one daughter: Brenda Joyce (McCarty) Bettis and husband David of Blue Springs, MO; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
