William W. Richards


William “Bill” Winton Richards, 81, of Oak Grove, MO passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at New Haven/Golden Living Center in Odessa, MO. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 8th at the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Drumm Farm Institute, 3210 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055.

Bill was born on May 16, 1929 in Kansas City, KS, the son of George & Bertha (Dawson) Richards. He attended school at Drumm Farms from 8 years of age through high school. He married Geraldine J. Hall on November 10, 1956 and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2008. Bill had been a nursery owner and truck driver. He loved plants, trees & all growing things. He & Geraldine had been avid genealogists. Bill had served as the Historian for Drumm Farms for a number of years. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Teamsters Union.

His survivors include three daughters: Karen Sloan of Lone Jack, Kathy Woodward & husband James of Blue Springs, and Diane Creed & husband Kent of Oak Grove; two brothers: Donald Richards of Grain Valley and George Richards Jr. of Oak Grove; and eight grandchildren: Chris, Kyle, & Amy Sloan, Michelle, Michael, & Matthew Woodward, and Jason & Nathan Creed.
