Fred Marquis, 68, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at ST. Mary’s Hospital. Visitation will be 4-5pm Tuesday, October 18, 2011 with Memorial Service to follow at 5pm at the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs, MO.
Fred was born November 21, 1942 in Decatur, IL to Everett & Anamary (Chambers) Marquis. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Fred married Sally Jo McRee April 7, 1974.
Fred was Chairman of the City of Blue Springs Personnel Board for 20 years. He was a member of the Retired Educators Association and the First Methodist Church of Blue Springs. He was a Controller and Office Manager for the Canteen Corp. and was a Specialty Paper Salesman for International Paper. Fred taught GED classes for the Blue Springs and Fort Osage School Districts. He taught at the Blue Springs High School in the Success Center. After retirement, Fred substituted for the Blue Springs School District. Fred loved spending time with his family and playing golf.
Fred is survived by his wife: Sally Jo of the home; two daughters: Angela Marquis, Kimberly Prosser & husband Jeff; granddaughters: Ali and Palyn Prosser; mother: Anamary Marquis; brothers: Gavin G. & Carolyn Marquis; sister: Marie Marquis; Fred was preceded in death by his father Everett Marquis.
