Jack Evertt Scarbrough, 59, of Independence, Missouri, (formerly of Oak Grove, MO) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was a cherished son, adored big brother, beloved husband, exceptional father, and an irreplaceable Papa, as well as an esteemed friend to many.
Jack was born February 4, 1963, on Fort Bliss Army Base, the son of Jackie C. & Margaret A. Scarbrough. He was a graduate of the Oak Grove High School Class of ’81, where he partook in football, wrestling, and endless shenanigans with friends. He was also a 1985 graduate of UMKC College.
In his day, Jack was known for his ’66 Caprice, C10 Chevy, and his ’77 Cutlass 442. But he put all the fast cars away when he married the love of his life, Debra L. Greene on September 21, 1985, and took on his most loved role as a dedicated father to Amanda M. Scarbrough. Jack worked many years for Glenn Freely Auto, Stuart Hall and Aspen Products, retiring in November 2021.
Jack had an avid love for the Colorado mountains, his ’01 Kawasaki Nomad Motorcycle, Old Hot Rods, reminiscing with old friends, all things historic as he was a huge history buff, and above all, spending time with his best bud (Grandson) Jackson and their pup Charlie. Jack was an extraordinary man and loved by so many. He will be greatly missed. May his memory live on forever.
Jack was preceded in death by sister, Lanea R.Scarbrough, and many dear friends and family. He is survived by both parents, Jack & Maggie Scarbrough; his wife of 38 years, Debra L. Scarbrough; daughter, Amanda & her husband, Jacob Maun; and three grandkids, Jackson, Cooper, & Mackinley.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3rd at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO, followed by inurnment at 2:30 p.m. in Swan Lake Memorial Park in Grain Valley, MO.
