
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri. Wilbur Melvin Largent, Jr. was born on February 2, 1928 in the home of his maternal grandparents in Beattie, Kansas. His parents were Wilbur Melvin Largent, Sr. and Velma Frances (Willis) Largent. Wilbur was baptized at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Beattie, KS on May 1, 1937 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kansas City, MO on May 29, 1955. He was discharged from the Army in October 1947. He married Kathleen Irene White on March 23, 1948. Four children were born to this marriage: Kathleen Elizabeth, March 18, 1949; Charles Melvin, June 2, 1951; Susan Allene, May 25, 1953 and John Derek, March 9, 1970. Wilbur’s entire professional career was spent in the silk screen advertising industry and he had been co-owner of Argus Advertising and Falcon Design, retiring in February 1991. He was an active member of Immanuel, St. Paul’s and Messiah Lutheran churches. He served on various boards and particularly enjoyed working with children’s athletic groups.
Those left to mourn his transition from this earthly life into the heavenly domain on February 1, 2023 are his wife of 74 years and 10 months; daughter, Kathleen Stewart; son, Charles Melvin (Linda); daughter, Susan Lloyd (Clayton); and son, John Derek (Jamie); as well as six (6) grandchildren; ten (10) great-grandchildren; and nine (9) great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, friends and fellow saints.
