Gus Sifuentes Jr. of Independence, MO passed away on Wednesday March 22, 2023 at Centerpoint Medical Center after a long illness. Gus was born on March 29th, 1936, to Tomasita and Augustine V. Sifuentes Sr. in Kansas City, MO. He retired from Toby Paper in 2006 where he worked for much of his adult life. He was a diehard, lifelong Chiefs fan, but his greatest love was his family. He was an amazing Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents (listed above) and brother Thomas Sifuentes.
He is survived in death by his daughter Sherri Brooks and beloved son-in-law Rob Brooks of Blue Springs, MO; daughter Vicki McGill of Blue Springs, MO; and son Steve Sifuentes of Independence, MO; grandchildren John Brooks, Nick McGill, Josh (Megan) Brooks, Trever (Amber) Sifuentes, Christina (Michael) Hanshaw, and Trent Sifuentes; great-grandchildren Nolan and Charlotte Sifuentes and Connor McGill; siblings Teresa Orozco, Lulu (Gilbert) Lopez, Robert (Suzie) Sifuentes, Ralph (Mary Jean) Sifuentes and Linda Villegas.
Services will be held on Saturday April 1st, 2023, at 3pm at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection – 1433 NW R.D. Mize Road Blue Springs, MO 64015. The family will receive friends from 2pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Also, in lieu of dress clothes, all attendees are encouraged to wear CHIEFS attire, as we all know Gus would have wanted it this way.
Feel no guilt in laughter, he’d know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He’d hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone must say.
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day.
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here.
And fills you with that feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart.
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart.
