Shirley Ann Smith, 88, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023. A private graveside service will be in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, Missouri. Her memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church ~ Oak Grove, Missouri.
Shirley was born January 25, 1935 to Roy and Loubelle (Leatherman) Yokley in Vernon County Missouri. She was the tenth of eleven children born to her parents, all of siblings preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John R. Smith, her daughter, Rebecca Richard and grandson, Jeremiah Richard. Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of eleven and continued her walk of faith until her death. She was a graduate of Southwest Baptist College, Missouri Valley College and Central Missouri State University. Shirley taught school for thirty years and retired in 1992 from Fort Osage Junior High, Independence, Missouri.
She is survived by two sons; Greg (Darlene) Smith of Grain Valley, Missouri and Matt (Nikki) Smith of Greenville, Wisconsin, one daughter, Brandy (Eric) O’Connor of Buckner, Missouri, seven grandchildren and Thirteen great grandchildren.
