
On October 8, 2023 the loving arms of Jesus Christ took Lynda LuVerne Sell home as she was surrounded by her loving family. Lynda was born the daughter of Vernon Delbert Carlson and Florence Mildred Carlson on November 10, 1946 from Kansas City, Missouri.
Early in her career she was a secretary for the Printing Pressman and Assistants Union Local #16. While her children were young, she worked as a part time bookkeeper for several small companies while running an at-home daycare. As her children aged, she was co-owner of ACE Trucking Co. along with her husband Don. She was extremely active within her community and school district as she coached Little League Baseball, held a position as a PTA Board Member, and Brownie Leader to name a few. Her home was known by all of the neighborhood children as the “Safe House.”
She was preceded in death by her husband: Don Sell; parents: Vernon Carlson and Florence Carlson; brother: John Carlson; stepchild: Donald Ray Sell and great-grandchild: Jaiden Krogull. She is survived by and will be forever missed by her children: Jeana Higginbottom and husband Mike Woods, Jeff Bowers and wife Mindy, and Jill Springate and husband Jonathan; stepdaughters: Karen Ingraffia and significant other Steve Miller, Lela Gruebel and husband Robert, and Kathy Smith and husband Danny; grandchildren: Shannon Davis and husband Jordan, Brandon Higginbottom, Amber Krogull and husband Jesse, Aaron Bowers and wife Hannah, Alyssa Anderson and husband Ryan, Kodey Springate and fiancée Dena, Kaitlyn Springate, Michael Lilley and wife Kristi, Marshal Lilley, Jennifer Smith Lilley, Samantha Lusk and husband Justin, Donald P. Sell, Christopher M. Sell, Pamela Martin, Patty Warren and husband Brandon, Mandy Engelbrecht and husband Jason, Danielle Smith; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Carson, McKinley, Scout, Shiloh, Stella, Aubrey, JaeLynn, Jaxon, Addie, Alec, Abigail, Hannah, Tyler and wife Allison, Austin, Joshua, Annrea, Journey, Brayden, Tavin, Declan, Kinsley, Jaxon, Javon, and Jett; great-great-grandchild: Charlotte; sibling: Carl Carlson and husband Rick, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14 at Royer’s Funeral Home in Grain Valley located at 100 Royer Lane Grain Valley, MO 64029, (816) 847-4441, followed by burial at Mecklin Cemetery.
