Joyce Thebo, 77, of Lone Jack, went onto her heavenly home surrounded by her family on January 20th. She is preceded in death by her father, Olen, mother, Helen, and brother, Dean. She is survived by her niece, Dawn (Tim) McGill and nephew, Jeff (Lisa) King as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Matthew, Danielle, Evan, Ryan and Laynie.
Her kind and cheerful disposition served her well through her career working at Mid-Continent Public Library. She loved reading to children and invited them into an atmosphere of creativity and learning. Prior to working at the library, she lived in Colorado spreading the word of God through ministry. Her one true calling in life was to spread God’s word and love to everyone she spoke with. She found joy in life’s small details, such as watching the squirrels playing in the trees outside of her large picture window.
Burial will be at Valley Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 1:30pm. A celebration of her life and open house will be held at the Pizza Hut in Oak Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Mid-Continent Public Library in Blue Springs.

19 Jun 2024Just found out today about Joyce’s death. She was my favorite cousin as well and I remember fun times playing at Aunt Helen and Uncle Toot’s property there in Lone Jack. If someone has Jeff’s or Dawn’s phone numbers, my mom Henrietta and us out here in New Mexico would like to send sympathy cards to them.
