Duane Frances Theesfeld passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at his home in Independence, MO. with his loving wife and family by his side.
Duane was born to Henry and Barbara Theesfeld at their farm in Terril, IA on Feb. 20, 1930.
Duane was the last survivor from his family of 14 siblings. He was also preceded in death by two of his sons, Ronald and Joseph.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Ross) Theesfeld. His surviving children are Michael Theesfeld, Shelly (& Brian) Donovan. Lisa Bohannon, Melissa (& Fred) Nichelson and his “Best Bud,” Landyn Ross. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Duane was a lifelong truck driver. He started his career in Sioux Falls SD. Forty-four years later he retired from Central Plains Cement in Sugar Creek, Mo. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 541. In retirement up to age 91, Duane hauled cars from one coast to the other with his favorite Ford Truck.
Duane was a Life Member of Knights of Columbus Council 07055. He was a member of the St Joseph the Worker congregation and then St. Marks Catholic Church.
Duane always had a heart of gold. He often took his homegrown veggies to the local convent or shared them with anyone who he thought would enjoy them. He generously shared his gardening supplies and his gardening knowledge with family. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Services will be at: Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, MO on Monday, March 4, 2024 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m.; burial following at New Salem Cemetery, Independence, MO.

3 Mar 2024My father Charles Crain was very close to Duane before he passed away. I grew up around Duane as a kid. Sorry for your loss. I know it’s a tough time for his family. Just keep your chin up and enjoy the memories he leaves behind.
