Ernest Fuqua passed away on December 1, 2023 in Independence, Missouri. Ernest was born August 5, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Albert and Louise (Moore) Fuqua. Ernest was a pressman for most of his working years. He also worked as a plant manager for Gemaco playing cards.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert and Robert; sister, Shirley. Ernest is survived by his sister, Bertie Alfie and brother, Roy (Cathy) Fuqua.
Linda Fuqua passed away on February 24, 2024 in Independence, Missouri. Linda was born September 26, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Sterling and Laurine (Albauer) Spencer. Linda worked as a hostess in the restaurant business for most of her working years.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Brenda and Patty; niece, Cindy and nephew, Tom Chapin. Linda is survived by her sister, Rosalie Green.
Ernest and Linda are survived by son, Danny (Sherry) Fuqua; daughter, Carmen Hodges; grandchildren: Preston Fuqua, Heather Hodges, Valarie Hodges; brother-in-law, Ronnie Chapin and several nieces and nephews.
Ernest and Linda were married on August 5, 1961, celebrating 62 years of marriage in 2023. Ernest and Linda were lifelong Kansas City area residents and took pleasure in going to the boat together. They enjoyed cheering on the KC Chiefs and KC Royals. Ernest and Linda treasured their time together going for drives in the fall to look at the leaves. They both had a love for Mexican food and enjoyed going out to eat.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home in Independence with burial of cremation to follow at New Salem Cemetery.
