Jim Birk, age 74, of Buckner, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024.

He was born April 21, 1949 in Tokyo Japan to the late James and Marie Birk. Jim grew up as a military kid overseas before the family returned to the US, settling in Independence, Missouri when he was a teen. Jim was a 1967 graduate of William Chrisman High School. He served in the US Army for 6 years before becoming a police officer for the Independence Police Department, retiring in 1997.

Jim married Laura (Diane) Pearson in 1971. They were married 45 years before Diane passed away in 2016.

He is survived by sons, Kenneth Birk and James Birk (Jessica), his daughter Robin and six grandchildren as well as sisters Julie Terry and Donna Ruble and brother Dennis Birk
