In the most peaceful of ways, in her sleep, Rachel Nichols Bailey went to be with her precious savior, Jesus Christ, on September 3, 2019. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7th at First Baptist Church, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bailey kids’ education fund in care of Kori Cheatham. Without a doubt, she immediately sat down with her family that was already there and had a time of worship and singing.
Rachel Nichols Bailey was born on January 8th (she’d want you to know that’s Elvis birthday, too), 1976 in Kansas City, MO. Rachel’s favorite thing to do in her life was to sing. Her passion was to lead in worship and draw attention to Jesus. She loved others fiercely, and loved being a pastor’s wife and pouring into others…especially teenagers. She always loved having her girl’s friends over to her and Chris’ home and sharing Jesus with them…and led many of them to invite Jesus into their hearts. Her other passion was raising her children and more than anything, making sure they knew and loved Jesus…and she succeeded. She just had a huge heart that even carried over into her work. She graduated from Penn Valley Community College in May of 2007 with her ADN in Nursing and worked as both a mother/baby nurse and as a hospice nurse; where she found her passion. Story after story has been shared about her impact on patients and families, and her compassion in their times of loss. As a side, and incredibly important note, she said over and over again if she’d had to do it again, she would have been a park ranger. Ask anyone that knew her even just a little and they will tell you how obsessed she was with bears and mountain lions. She even tracked Missouri mountain lions on an app! Her favorite thing to do growing up was to go to Roaring River State park with her parents and grandparents and then visit the other grandparents at their home in southern Missouri. Rachel fought with her health for just a little over four years, and now stands with Jesus, at peace; completely and perfectly healed.
Rachel was born to David & Sue Nichols of Blue Springs, MO and is preceded in home going by her dad, and both sets of grandparents. She married Chris Bailey, the love of her life and partner in crime on April 13, 1996 and leaves behind her mom, Susan Nichols of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Mick and Piper Nichols of Jacksonville, FL; 5 daughters, Mychael Elizabeth & Daryl Hoffmann of Tucson, AZ, Maryssa Dawn & Aaron Larson of Lubbock, TX, Madyson Loraine & Kori Cheatham of Blue Springs, MO, Maggy Rose of Grain Valley, MO, Maycee Noel of Grain Valley, MO; her favorite little man, her son Maveryk Christopher John, 5, of Grain Valley, MO; and several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
