Berta C. Moreira-Gómez

Berta Carmen Moreira-Gómez 96 years old passed away peacefully at her daughter Eva and Neal McGregor´s home, surrounded by her family on October 2, 2024.  Carmen was born on December 26, 1927, in San Jorge, San Miguel, El Salvador to Miguel Angel Moreira-Urutia and Isabel Moreira-Gómez.

She spent her early years in El Salvador, then relocated with her parents to Honduras.  In her later years, she moved to Independence, Missouri to live with her daughters and family.

She was preceded in death by her love life companion and father of her children, Martín (Martir) Menjivar-Menjivar, sisters Lucinda and Luisa Moreira, and brothers José and Ruben Moreira.

She leaves behind her children Israel (Iris) Coca, Horalia Murga, María Eva (Neal) McGregor, Guadalupe Rios, Martir (Melania) Menjivar, Gladys (Roger) Sense, America (Neil) Montrose, Sara (David) Schoff, Esmeralda (Donald) Woodard, Rebeca (John) Ellis; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, sister Hermicenda Moreira, brother Plutarco (Lesly) Moreira and her extended family, including many nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

Carmen became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 15, 1988, when she dedicated her life to her Creator, Jehovah God.  She was loved and respected by all that knew her throughout her life.  She had a way of making everyone know how very important they were, and she would welcome them into her home as family.  She made sure everyone she encountered felt included, special, and valued.  To her kids she was everything:  teacher, protector, advocate, confidant and friend and her kids were her life.  She will forever be the matriarch of her family.  She lived independently in her home until she was 94 years old, with her grandson Junior Jason Aleman whom she loved very much.

Words cannot express how grateful we are to Crossroads Hospice, for the kind and loving care given to our mother and family during this time.  Also, for the love and support given by our friends and family members.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at, Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Private burial, family only.
