Anna “Kitten” Livengood

Anna “Kitten” Livengood, a feisty, kind-hearted soul with a love for life and a knack for telling it like it is, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 9th, 2024. Born on August 3, 1943, in Sedalia, Missouri, Anna lived a life full of love, hard work, and a little bit of sass.

The daughter of Hubert and Priscilla Livengood, Anna grew up on a farm alongside her brother Bus, who lovingly nicknamed her “Kitten” as a child—a name that stuck with her for life. She was a true country girl, active in 4-H and a passionate horse lover, spending her early years helping on the family farm.

After graduating high school, Anna briefly ventured to Kansas City before returning to her roots in Sedalia. She married James Miller and had one son, Robert Miller, before finding a new chapter of love with Mike Smith, with whom she had a daughter, Carrie Smith. Her greatest joy came from raising her children and later becoming “Grammy” to her cherished grandchildren.

Her family fondly remembers her as a morning kitchen manager at the family business, Backstage BBQ, and as a security officer at Ameristar Casino until her retirement.

In her well-earned retirement, Kitten became a connoisseur of Coca-Cola, Tootsie Rolls, and the Game Show Network. She also delighted in keeping up with all her family and friends, spending hours on the phone catching up on everyone’s lives and sharing her own updates. She knew how to relax and appreciated the simple joys of life, always surrounded by those she loved.

Anna is survived by her son Robert Miller (Pam), their children Alysha and Chad; her daughter Carrie Smith, and her grandson Alden Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Priscilla, and her brother Bus—no doubt preparing a heavenly reunion as we speak.

Kitten’s family will forever treasure her fiery spirit. Her legacy will live on in the countless laughs, meals, and memories she left behind.

A celebration of life will be held at our home January 11th between 1pm and 4pm. Just stop by any time. Share your fun stories and say hello to family and friends. 4522 N Koger Rd Sibley MO 64088
