Jacob L. Burkhardt


Jacob Louis Burkhardt, son of Kenneth and Deborah (Merrick) Burkhardt, was born on November 19, 1977 in Independence, Missouri and peacefully departed this life on January 17, 2025 in North Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 47.

Jacob was a graduate of Raytown High School and an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.  He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas Nevada.  After returning from his mission, he obtained a bachelor’s degree from Park University.  He was united in marriage to Rosemary Danielson on October 27, 2001.  Together they had five children and resided in the greater Kansas City area.  The last several years they’ve called Excelsior Springs, Missouri their home.  Most of his career was spent in finance with his most favored job being a stay-at-home Dad for several years.

Among Jacob’s loves were; his job at Chuck E Cheese where he worked with two of his siblings, watching KC Chiefs games, playing basketball at church and school, watching ESPN to keep up on sports stats, supporting his children in their activities including sports, all genres of music, playing the drums whether it be with sticks on a snare or his fingers on the table while eating meals, playing games with family, memorable family vacations to Winter Park, Colorado and Branson, Missouri, making people laugh with his quirky sense of humor and going to dinner so he could spend quality time with those he loved.

Jacob was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah (Merrick) Burkhardt and sister, Jaime Bowlin.  He is survived by his grandmother Darlene Merrick of Independence, Missouri; father Kenneth and stepmother Beth Burkhardt of Overland Park, Kansas; wife Rose and their five children: Josslyn, Jakobi, Riley, Kalani & Kaleah of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; siblings: Jennie Loveland of Overland Park, Kansas, Joshua (Megan) Burkhardt of Mapleton, Utah, Julianne Abagulum of Overland Park, Kansas and Jordan (Mary) Burkhardt of Phoenix, Arizona; aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 202 W 19th St, Kearney, MO 64060 on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10 to 10:45 am.  Funeral service will follow at 11 am.  Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, at Jacob’s request, memorials can be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care at 9001 State Line Rd, Suite 300, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
