Jonnie D. Kerrick


Jon was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sept. 24, 2025. Jon was born on Feb. 7, 1942 to Thomas & Dorothy (White) Kerrick. Most of Jon’s school years were spent at East High School, but he graduated from Van Horn. Jon spent the next 34 years with Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1995. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 28, 1988 Jon & Marilyn were married, beginning an almost 37-year-old extraordinary marriage. They were devoted to the Lord and spent many years teaching Sunday school, being church camp counselors, and youth mentors. They were blessed to travel to Israel, and to be part of a mission team to Mexico. They attended many annual conferences of the United Methodist Church. They also became spiritual care volunteers at St. Mary’s Manor. Jon was also a skilled wood craftsman, filling the home with his projects.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, sons Chris and Keith (Michelle), and daughters Sheri Bedsworth (Jimmy) and Tara Galpin (Rod) other survivors include 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Julie Kolar (Larry), Janeen Zacharius (Bill), and Colleen Perryman (Bob). Jon was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations either to the Faith United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Grain Valley on Monday, Sept. 29 at 11:00. Visitation will begin at 10:00.
