Johnnie was born April 22, 1949 to Paul Douglas and Ruby Fern (Russell) Warren in Kansas City, Missouri. As a young boy, he enjoyed rabbit hunting and fishing with his grandpa Orie and grandma Annie down in Climax Springs, MO. During family events, he would routinely gather all the cousins together to play baseball. Johnnie loved to spend time with is mother, Ruby, playing Yahtzee and wouldn’t miss an opportunity to watch professional wrestling with his father, Paul. At 16, he saved all his money from mowing yards to purchase his first car, and was remembered for piling friends into his car to get something to eat after church. As a young man, he bought his dream car; a 1970 Chevell SS with a 396 engine, red with black racing stripes. He gave his sister Teresa driving lessons in that car and she later took her driver’s test in it. Johnnie enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers, and Kansas City Royals. He also found enjoyment watching old wartime movies and learning about history. He was a simple man. To him, the greatest treasures were not things, but the people and passions he held close to his heart, especially his family.

Johnnie worked for 40 years in the printing industry with 28 years devoted to Sealright and 12 years devoted to Package Service Company working as a plate maker at both printing press locations.

He was a proud member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri, since 1998. It was at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church that he met the love of his life Kathy–his sweet little strawberry. They were later married on November 7, 1998. They lived happily and enjoyed 26 years together.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Les Calvert, mother-in-law Marge Calvert, and brothers-in-law Arnold Peterson and Scott McCoy.
