Lindsey LeeAnn Smith, 44, of Independence, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at NKC Hospital of acute organ rejection. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; burial following in New Salem Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.   

Lindsey was born on November 3, 1980 in Independence, Missouri.  She was a server, bank teller, and caregiver but mostly a mom.  She was a bright smile on a bad day.  Lindsey was selfless to a fault at times.  She was completely infectious, loved by all.  She was the life of the party when she finally arrived because hey, “better late than ugly”.   Her warmth, humor, and boundless heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kelly Gresham; father, Mike Sims; grandfather, Merrit (Hank) Henry and step brother, Dustin Gresham.

Lindsey is survived by her grandma, Helen Henry; uncle, Patrick Henry; children: Alexis Barnett, Katelyn Smith, Cole McEldery; sisters: Erin Gresham, Michaela Sims; brothers: Ricky Gresham, William Sims, Wayne Sims; significant other, Josh Greenway; cousins: Sean Griffin, Derek Parker, Bethany Stamps; nephews: Joey, Jordan, Jamison Bridges, Hendrix Stamps; and niece Marleigh Stamps.
