
Doris Elaine Anderson, 82, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026. A celebration of life will be held from 1:30-4:30pm on Sunday, September 13th at The Delaware, 125 S. Main, Independence, MO 64050.
Born on December 15, 1943, in Independence, Missouri, Doris was the daughter of James William and Blanche Daisy (Crabtree) Chapple Sr. She grew up in Independence, MO, graduating from William Chrisman High School with the Class of 1961. She earned her associate’s degree from Central Missouri State University.
Throughout her career, Doris held several administrative and payroll positions. She worked as the Administrative Assistant to the president at Independence Savings & Loan, Assistant to the Facilities Manager at Rival Manufacturing Company, and Payroll Specialist for Cosentino’s Food Stores. She was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren and family knew her as “Grammie”. Her family was the center of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to support those she loved. She attended every school play and cheered at every sporting event. She treasured every moment spent with her family.
Doris was also a loyal and treasured friend. She loved lunching and visiting with her many friends, several of whom she had known since grade school. In her free time, Doris enjoyed reading, bird-watching, puzzles, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. Go Chiefs!
Doris is survived by her daughter, Whitney (Harvey) Sommers; her three grandchildren, Delaney Sommers, McKenna Sommers, and Morgan Sommers; and the father of her daughter, Kerry (Teddie) Crisp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Blanche Daisy Chapple Sr., her brother, James Chapple Jr., and her second husband, Clifford W. Anderson.
Doris will be remembered for her love for her family, her lifelong friendships, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. Her love and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
