Erma J. Cazenave


Erma Jean Cazenave, 81, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018.  Services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27th at Uganda Martyrs Church in Okmulgee, OK.

Erma Jean Cazenave was born January 14, 1937, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Viola (Barre) Gouthier.  She enjoyed growing up with her brothers and sisters.  Erma graduated from Dunbar High School in Okmulgee and worked as an elevator attendant after graduation.  Later in life, she met the love of her life, Leonard B. Cazenave.  They were married in 1961 and had two children, Paul and Antoinette.

Erma and Leonard moved to Dallas, Texas, where she attended El Centro College and later received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing.  She was an RN at Baylor Medical, where she was an amazing nurse and very dedicated to her patients.  In 1977, the family moved to Blue Springs, Missouri.  Erma enjoyed collecting dolls and antiques, going to the casino, and playing bingo.

She leaves behind her son, Paul A. Cazenave; daughter, Antoinette (Cazenave) Johnson & husband Geoffrey; a host of grandchildren & great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Rudolph Gouthier & wife Cleo, Charles Gouthier & wife Mamie, and John Gouthier Jr. & wife Jean.  Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leonard; two brothers: Earl J. Nedd and Matthew Gouthier; and three sisters: Cecile (Gouthier) Wilson, Marvel (Gouthier) Williams, and Gladys “Midge” (Gouthier) Humphries.
