Isaac Reu Church, 89, of Oak Grove, Missouri, died October 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13th at the funeral home.
Isaac was born on January 1, 1930, in Oak Grove, Missouri, the son of Isaac R. and Mattie M. (Hunt) Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, working as a Radio Telegraph Operator. He returned to the area, married, and raised his three sons on a farm in Bates City, MO. Isaac was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ where he served as elder for many years. He retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital where he worked as the director of bio-medical communications. After the death of his first wife, Patricia Ann (Phillips) Church, he married Alice Jeane (Johnson) Paxton. He enjoyed his life on the farm with his family and being part of the community and church where he grew up. He was a private pilot and loved flying around the country.
Isaac was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia; his second wife, Alice; one son, James Church; one brother, Gerald Church; and two sisters, Norma Carrell and Ruby Nield.
His survivors include two sons: David W. Church of Oak Grove and Ben Church (Sharon) of Blue Springs; six grandchildren: Angela Brewer, Connie Parker, Victoria Faucett, Evan Church, Heath Church, and Ruth Church-Owens; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
