
Juanita Lee Ann Winfrey, 71, passed peacefully from this life into the presence of the Lord, with her family by her side on the evening of September 3rd, 2020 from lung cancer. A graveside service will be held at Versailles Cemetery on Thursday September 17th at 1:00 pm. Lee Ann was born April 30, 1949 in Glensted, MO to Velma Margarete Williams of Versailles, MO and Nick Van Asperin of South Dakota. She moved to Kansas City MO in 1963 with her mother and step-father and lived there for most of her life. Lee Ann was a dedicated and loving mother who devoted herself to her children and her family. She was a member of the Raytown Christian Church. She volunteered as PTA President and was a senior member of Civil Air Patrol. She always attended the performances by her son Jeremy in school and church drama, and later when he started a band with his friends she was proudly known as the “rock mom”.
She was united in marriage to her companion of 24 years, Donald (Sam) R. Winfrey, on October 26, 2005. After his passing in 2006 she pursued a career as a pilot car driver and absolutely loved traveling all across the country. She retired at the beginning of 2019 and moved in with her daughter Cyndi where she lived until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter Cyndi Nestel of Lee’s Summit, son Jeremy Collins of Springfield, grandson Noah Nestel of Chicago IL, and granddaughter Symphony Collins of Springfield. She is also survived by her step-brother Ron Williams of Oklahoma and a great many extended family members.
She will be remembered fondly and missed greatly by all who knew her.

Proverbs 31:25 “She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.”
Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
John 17:3 “Now this is eternal life; that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
