Alva J. Hardin


Alva Junior Hardin, 87, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018.  Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10th at Royer’s New Salem, Independence; burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence.  The family will greet guests from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Alva was born on November 14, 1930, in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Russell and Gladys (Seek) Hardin.  He was a truck driver for several area companies and was a 3-million-mile accident free truck driver.  Alva enjoyed playing pool, traveling, winters in Texas, listening to country music, and having coffee at the Pioneer Café when it was still open.

Alva is survived by three sons: Rusty Hardin (Carol) of Independence, Gary Hardin (Nancy) of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Bobby Hardin of Yukon, OK; one daughter, Debbie Cordonier (Brian) of Gladstone, MO; ten grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; one sister, Barbara Finley of Richmond, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Imogene (Tibbs) Hardin; one son, Steve Hardin; one daughter, Sherry Hardin; and one brother, Jackie Hardin.
