
Fern Marie Harms, 83, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27th at Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
Fern was born July 3, 1932, in Stover, Missouri, the daughter of Paul and Katherine (Nottmeier) Ehlers. She married Olen Henry Harms on January 31, 1954. Fern was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, upholstering furniture, making homemade candy, traveling, and especially spending time with her family. Fern was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church.
Fern is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Norene Potter and Wilma Tagtmeyer; one brother, Leonard Ehlers; and one son Mike Harms in 2004.
Her survivors include her husband of 62 years, Olen Harms of the home; three daughters: Cindy Ball (John) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Sandra Hensley (Rick) of Kansas City, MO, and Anita Baker (Tyson) of Jefferson City, MO; one daughter-in-law, Karen Harms of Longview, TX; one sister, Lucille Steinmeyer of Cole Camp, MO; six grandchildren: Darlene Winfrey, Paula Odle, Ashleigh Ball, Katelyn Ball, Kevin Smallwood, and Morgan Baker; and nine great-grandchildren.
