Veatrice M. Henson, 106, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2nd at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home; burial in Perdee Cemetery, Grain Valley, MO. Contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Grain Valley or Kansas City Hospice House.
Veatrice was born on April 29, 1911 in Springfield, MO, daughter of William and Mary (Hamrick) Fields. She married Chester Henson on May 11, 1928, they were founding members of High Street Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. Then moved to Grain Valley in 1986, joined the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley where she taught Sunday school for 31 years. She volunteered for Grain Valley Community Service League and Grain Valley Assistance Council. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Henson who passed away on October 30, 1997; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Her survivors include 2 children, Helen Roller of Grain Valley, MO and Jim Henson (Shirley) of Grain Valley, MO; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
