Steven Bryan Johnston, 50, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 15th at Calvary Baptist Church, 1915 S. Liberty Street, Independence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16th, also at the church; burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery, Independence.
Steven was born May 31, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John and Doris (Phelps) Johnston. He graduated from Missouri Western State in St Joseph, MO with a Bachelor’s Degree. Steven worked for the State of Missouri in the family support division. He was a member and Deacon at the Calvary Baptist church in Independence. He loved reading, drinking coffee, and maple leaves, but most of all, he loved his family.
Steven is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home; three daughters: Kara, Abby & Aimee Johnston all of Independence; one brother, David Johnston of Lincoln, NE; nephew, Zachary Johnston; niece, Sarah Johnston; and great nephew, Carter Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents.
