Vernon Ward Koontz, 78, of Blue Springs, Missouri, made his transition Monday, November 16, 2015 peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Jetmore, Kansas in December 1936, he served in the U.S. Air Force before moving to the Kansas City area to work in computer operations. Vernon worked at Waddell & Reed, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City.
He will be missed by Anita, his wife of 41 years, as well as his 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and his 4 surviving sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21st at Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor.
