Laney L. Leach


Laney Louis Leach, 74, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away August 25, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospice House.  The Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. & visitation from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30th at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, Blue Springs; burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. John LaLande Catholic Church.

Laney was born July 13, 1943 in Kansas City, MO, to Elizabeth (Gudde) & Albert Leach.  He was a 1961 graduate of Oak Grove High School and an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era.  He married Ann Selvey on Aug. 17, 1985.  Laney was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church and Blue Springs American Legion Post #499.  He retired after 17 years with Montgomery Ward and had been employed as a custodian at William Bryant Elementary in the Blue Springs School District for the past 15 years.  Laney loved watching the Royals games, the Chiefs games, NASCAR, sprint car races, Family Feud & Wheel of Fortune.  He enjoyed feeding the deer & turkey in his back yard.  He loved being outdoors and doing things for others.  He loved his job, and the staff & students at William Bryant.

His survivors include his wife of 32 years, Ann Selvey Leach of the home; 5 children:  Sonya Ragsdale (William) of Austin, TX, Lisa Hurley of Oak Grove, MO, Cody Kelly of Mountain View, MO, Derald Kelly of Birch Tree, MO, & Beth Wieland of Thorton, CO; a brother: Larry Leach (Diane) of Independence, MO; a sister: Linda Boyd (John) of Oak Grove; 14 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren.
