
Roger James Lopez, 54, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away surrounded by family on July 1, 2017. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Royer Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 also at the funeral home; burial following in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marion Bloch Neuroscience Unit at St. Luke’s.
Roger was born on December 2, 1962 in Denver, Colorado to Celeste “Dina” Gomez. He was united in marriage to his wife of over 30 years, Rena (Brunner) Lopez, on July 19, 1986. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1985. Anyone who met Roger, knew he was Marine, as he lived his life according to the Marine Corps values. Roger committed his life to caring for his family. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and was able to witness his beloved Broncos win three Super Bowls.
Roger is preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Gomez, grandmother, Lupe Gomez, mother, Celeste “Dina” Gomez, and brother, Mike Lopez. Roger is survived by his wife Rena Lopez, 2 children Nick (Jessica) Lopez, Amanda (Alex) Bittel, grandchildren, Santana Lopez and Londyn Bittel, sister Tammy (David) Miller, and brother Sam (Wendy) Lopez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as many friends.
