Michael James McKinney, 68, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Funeral services are at 10:00 am Monday, December 7th at the funeral home; with a burial at 2:30 pm in Union Cemetery, Rocky Mount, MO.
Michael was born October 4, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of William and Doris McKinney. He worked at Armco as a union electrician for 30 years, then worked at GST for another 4 years, retiring in 2001, then worked at Liquid Soap for another 4 years, finally retiring in 2005. He loved bird hunting and woodworking. He was an army Vietnam veteran, mason, VFW post 9638 out of Galmey, Missouri. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joann McKinney of the home; daughters, Jessica Cox (Johnny) of Grain Valley, MO, and Amanda Orahood (Jeremy) of Grain Valley, MO; grandchildren, Courtney Cox, Brittany Cox, Emma Orahood, Chloe Orahood, Aubrey Orahood and expecting another grandchild; brother, Timmy McKinney of Independence, MO.
