E. Frances Shields, 90 of Independence, MO, peacefully passed away March 17, 2019 surrounded by her family. Services will be held at Royer’s New Salem in Independence on Thursday, March 21st with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in New Salem Cemetery.
Frances was born on November 24, 1928, in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Oliver and Ethel (Porterfield) Adkins. After graduating from Manual High School in Kansas City, Frances met and married Bill the love of her life. She and Bill were married for 65 years.
Frances retired after 20 years of service at Small Engines Distributors. After retirement, Bill and Frances enjoyed traveling and spending time at their cabin. Frances was an avid fisherman! She was a member of IYM and loved playing Bridge. She was a member of Fairmount UMC. Frances was a champion tomato grower and loved her flowers and birds. She loved playing Bingo with her friends at Shangri-La.
Frances was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
