James “Jamie” Michael Simmerman, 43, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Sunday March 4, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8th at New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, Missouri. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. till service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in New Salem Cemetery, Independence.
Jamie was born on September 6, 1974 in Independence, MO, the son of James Franklin and Pamela Jeannine (King) Simmerman. He was most proud that he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout alongside his dad, taking the name “Son of Missing Limb”. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his niece, nephew and cousins.
Jamie is survived by his mother, Pam Simmerman of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Sharon Harris (Steven); one nephew, Samuel James Harris; and one niece, Sarah Michelle Harris, all of Kansas City MO; four aunts: Michele Fraley of Independence, Carol Downie of College Station, TX, Nancy Johnson of Belton, MO, and Bernice Estes of Georgia; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death his father; his paternal grandparents, Clifford and Mildred Simmerman; and his maternal grandparents, Irving and Margie King.
