Scott “Smitty” Cordell Smith, 64, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Boonesboro Cemetery, Boonesboro, Missouri.
Smitty was born on October 26, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia, son of Lawrence and Peggy (Ray) Smith. He was a high voltage electrical engineer for Westinghouse, Siemens, & Emerson. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Coastguard from 1969 to 1975. Smitty enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming, barbequing, spending time on the water and with his family.
Smitty is survived by his wife, Shelley Smith of the home; 2 daughters, Alison Cole (Jason) of Overland Park, and Misty Morrison (Mike) of Grain Valley; 2 sons, Travis Smith (Gina) of Overland Park, and Todd Miller of Grain Valley; 6 grandchildren, Trevor Morrison, Derek Miller, Quincy Morrison, Alex Smith, Catherine Smith and Ginny Cole; and of course his cherished dog, Tilley.
