Donald T. Boyce


Donald Thomas “Chip” Boyce, 69, of Bates City, MO died from complications following aorta surgery on February 4, 2015. He was born October 9, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1963, and attended Pittsburg State University on a football scholarship. He was in the Air Force Reserve. Chip worked as a salesman for Vernon Co., as a car mechanic, as owner of Olathe Imports, and later as a parts specialist with O’Reilly Auto Parts until retirement in 2010. Until his health problems, he enjoyed tennis, biking, golf, fishing, and cookouts with family. Preceding him in death were his father, Melvin Earl Boyce, and his mother, Elizabeth Lucille Hixon Boyce. He is survived by his stepson Karl Prather and his family of Olathe, KS, a brother, Jerry Boyce and wife, Marilyn of Branson, MO, a sister, Judy Fallman, and husband, Karl of Wellington, MO, a sister, Patty Vick, and husband, Larry of Kansas City, MO, seven nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, neighbors and relatives, and Chips constant companion his dog Bogey. A memorial service will be held at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO on Saturday, February 14 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs or Salvation Army.
