Helen Kay Burkhart Clay, 59, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at New Haven in Odessa, MO, due to a prolonged illness. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19th at her sister, Lora Bowman’s home.
Helen was born on September 28,1958 to Raymond & Mildred Burkhart. Helen was a lifelong resident of Odessa and went through all 13 years of school, graduating in 1978. She grew up on a farm south of town and loved all animals. Her favorites were horses, dogs, cats, and we can’t forget her pet chicken. Helen furthered her career in nursing becoming a CNA, pharmacy tech and a certified med tech in long term care facilities.
Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Bob Hardwick; brother and sister-in-law, Ron & Linda Burkhart; brother, Larry Burkhart; brother, Steven Burkhart; brother and sister-in-law, David & Rose Burkhart; sister and brother-in-law, Lora and Steve Bowman; 20 nieces and nephews; 38 great-nieces and nephews; and 4 great great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister & brother-in-law, Carol & Earl Tokarske; a niece Jaclyn Burkhart and nephew Roger Burkhart.
