Dennis Lee Bernard, 63, of lndependence, MO. went home to be with The Lord peacefully, Nov 8, 2014, in his home surrounded by family. Dennis was born April 14, 1951 in Independence, MO to Ted and Marian (Stark) Bernard. He was a 1969 graduate of William Chrisman High School. In Sept of 1971 he married his high school sweetheart, Patty (Francis) Bernard and they just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary.
Dennis worked very hard his entire life, retiring in 2010 from IBC/Hostess/W onder Bread. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He is an active member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, ushering and singing in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his father; Ted Bernard, step-father; Hod Ensign, nephew; Brian Stewart, brother-in-law; Randy Francis and uncles and aunts.
He is survived by his wife Patty Bernard of the home. Sons; Mike (Jenni) Bernard oflndep, MO; Matt (Ashlee) Bernard of lndep, MO; Daughter, Megan (TJ) Guadagnano of Oak Grove, MO. 9 grandchildren; Noah, Isaac, Elijah, Naomi, Alyssa, Hayden, Holly, Gavin and Landon. Mother; Marian Ensign of Salt Lake City, UT. Sisters; Linda Wiesemeyer (Danny) of Tulsa, OK; Sandy Gray (Russ) of Salt Lake City, UT. Father/Mother-in-law; Uhlan and Margie Francis of lndep, MO. Sister-in-law; Donna Francis oflndep, MO. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Thurs, Nov 13, Visitation, 5:00-7:00 p.m. and funeral service 7:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Graveside service 1la.m., Friday at New Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Lighthouse Baptist Church in care of the Bernard Family.
