Mary L. (Williamson) Booker passed away on August 18, 2006. She was 89 years old. She was born on June 25, 1917 in a small town called South, Alabama to Robert and Evie Williamson. She has a brother Ennis Williamson and a sister Bernice Stallings; all are deceased.
Her father worked for the railroad. When money was needed. Mary Lou and her mother picker cotton for other people. She went to several different churches as a youth but was baptized into the RLDS Church after she married Arthur Booker in 1935.
Mary Lou lived in South, Alabama; Midway, Alabama; Mobile, Alabama; Akron, Ohio; Wyandotte, Michigan; and Mansfield, Ohio, which was her favorite place that she lived.
Her husband, Arthur, passed away in 1982. Mary Lou came to Independence, Missouri in 1999 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, George and Annece Mefford. Since living here, she became a member of the Colbern Road Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Mary Lou enjoyed her church and church family, church music, and her immediate family. She enjoyed a good pizza and especially one Chinese Buffet. In her younger adult years, she enjoyed reading her scriptures, crocheting, making quilts, and gardening.
Surviving her is her daughter, Annece Mefferd; son-in-law, George Mefferd; Four grandchildren, Chari Pedersen, Peggy Sherer, Darla Walker, and David Mefferd; Thirteen great grandchildren, Christopher Pedersen, Benjamin Pedersen, Kelli Pedersen, Jonathan Pedersen, Joshua Pedersen, Nathaniel Sherer, Hannah Sherer, Rachael Mefferd, Rebecca Braden, Matthew Hill, Mark Walker Jr., Ashlee Mefferd, and Jordan Mefferd. She is also survived by five great great-granchildren, Caleb Braden, Sarah Braden, Chanciene Mefferd, Caleb Pedersen, and Joshua Pedersen.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2006 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. She will then be taken to Andalusia, Alabama for a service and then to McKenzie, Alabama for her final place for her final place of rest with her husband, Arthur, and her daughter, Mary Ann, who passed away at the age of 3 years.
