Mark Clay Magel, Jr., 82, of Bates City, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021. We will be celebrating Mark’s life Thursday, June 10th at Cross Creek Baptist Mission SW 15th St, Oak Grove, 64075. There will be a casual visitation from 5:30 to 7:00 with a memorial service at 7:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cross Creek Baptist Mission.
Mark was born January 19, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mark and Carrie (Jenson) Magel, Sr. He worked at Coca-Cola for 46 years as a delivery driver and salesman. Mark loved collecting all things Coke. He was one of the founders of the Coca-Cola Memorabilia Club, of which he was still a member. Mark was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan who enjoyed going to the races. Church was always a huge part of Mark’s life. He started the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church Bus Ministry in the 1970’s. He poured his heart into this ministry. He loved being able to get neighborhood kids to attend church. Most recently, he attended Cross Creek Baptist Mission, where he was an active member. Mark was one of the nicest men ever. He was a friend to everyone and a blessing to have in our lives. He will be missed by all of us, but we know he is with our Lord and looking down on us with love.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his long-time companion, Marcella Dixon.
Mark is survived by his brothers, David and Mike. He is also survived by Mary Ann Magel, the mother of his children: Steve (Julie) Magel, Lori Wessley, and Jeff (Pam) Magel; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Dawn, Andrew, Chris, Mallory, Makenzy, Emily and Erin, and 6 great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Jaxon, Levi, Jonah, Alli and Nora.
