Robert O. Dickinson


Robert Oscar Dickinson, 72, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at his home.  Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday, February 7th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. preceding the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.

Bob was born October 7, 1938 in Lebanon, MO, the son of Robert & Allie May (Boyd) Dickinson.  He married Sharon Kay Deckard on February 16, 1963.  They have owned and operated the Dickinson Exterminating Service in Independence for 45 years.  Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He loved his family and they were very important to him. He also loved his job and making new friends there. He made friends easily and could talk with anyone about anything. When relaxing, Bob enjoyed spending time by the pool in his back yard, visiting with family & friends, having a beer or two, and going fishing with his buddies.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Louis Dickinson, Boyd (Curly) Dickinson & Claude Dickinson; and one sister: Jessie Hammerand.

His survivors include his wife of 47 years: Kay Dickinson of the home; one daughter: Robbi Womack & husband Robert of Blue Springs; two grandchildren: Nikki Vivas of Independence & Bobby Womack of Blue Springs; a special nephew: Steve Boston of Oak Grove; and one brother: Ben Dickinson of Florida.

He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
