Ethel J. Enloe


Ethel Jane Enloe, 96, of Odessa, MO, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at her daughter’s home, where she had lived for the past 8 years. 

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, January 10th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, with a graveside service to follow in Blue Springs Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army.

Ethel was born on May 14, 1913 in Russelville, MO, the daughter of John & Edith (George) Dawson.  She married C. Ray Enloe on September 12, 1932 and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1995 after 62 years of marriage.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, a son: Vernon Dale Enloe in 2009, a son-in-law Paul Flood in 2001, and a daughter-in-law: Vita Enloe in 2001.  Ray & Ethel were longtime residents of the Kansas City & Independence areas.  She was a hard worker and had worked at many jobs in her lifetime, including a teacher’s assistant, a cashier at Macy’s, a waitress, and a clerk at the post office.  Ethel was a charter member & Sunday School teacher at the Inner City Church of God. 

 Her survivors include a daughter: Shirley Flood of Odessa, MO; two sons:  Bill Enloe & wife Ginger of Kansas City, MO, and Carl Enloe & wife Donna of Overland Park, KS; a daughter-in-law: Dot Enloe of Bolton, CT; 13 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

Ethel was a loving mother and a gracious lady who was dearly loved by all her family & friends.
