Doris N. Friend, 85, of Lone Jack, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO.
Doris was born June 24, 1926 near Hume, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Thelma (LeNeve) Ruchaber. She was a homemaker. Doris played piano at the R.L.D.S. church in Roseburg, Oregon for 32 years. She loved to bake cookies, and she also baked apple pie for the Blue & Grey Café in Grain Valley, MO.
Doris is preceded in death by a son, J. Michael Friend; a daughter, Jodie Gard; and a brother, J.C. Ruchaber.
Her survivors include her husband, Carrol Friend of the home; three daughters: Norrean O’Neal of Roseburg, OR, Peggye Turner of Grain Valley, MO, Cathy White & husband Robert of Lone Jack, MO; thirteen grandchildren: Michael Lee Turner, Nicole Turner, Shawn Noland, Derek Noland, Michael Friend Jr., Jennifer Friend, Matthew Friend, Michelle Sherer, Jeffery White, Courtney Gard, Megan Gard, Katie O’Neal, & Michael O’Neal; ten great-grandchildren; a brother: Harry Ruchaber & wife Amy of Roseburg, OR; and many nieces & nephews.
A Memorial service will be held Sunday February 26th at the Colbern Road Restoration Church 9525 Lake Lotawana Rd., Gate 2 Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Owl Hollow Equestrian program for children in crisis at www.owlhollowequestrian.com.
