Jane Ann Wheaton, 88, passed away on June 26, 2021, at her home in Independence, Missouri. Services will be held on Friday, July 2nd at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO, with visitation at 12:00 p.m. and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Jane was born July 6, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Nelson and Fronia (Lunceford) Madsen. She worked at Sears for over 25 years. Jane loved to cook and was known for her fried chicken. She also enjoyed quilting, arranging flowers, traveling, and having get-togethers with family and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Kent E. Wheaton in 2013; two brothers, John Madsen and Bill Madsen; and sister, Mary Creveling.
Her survivors include her daughter, Karen Dungey (Nick) of Keller, TX; son, Larry Wheaton (Tracy) of Independence, MO; five grandchildren: Afton Fendelman (Bret), Matt Dungey (Julie), Katie Beth Dungey (TK), Kandice Hayes, and Nichole Young (Ben); seven great-grandchildren: Devyn, Anzleigh, Sawyer, Jayden, Greyson, Max, Abby, and another due in October; one sister, Judy Stalcup of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces & nephews.
