Dorothy E. Hamilton


Dorothy Erma Hamilton, “Dottie”, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2015, at the Rehabilitation Center of Independence, MO.

Dorothy was born September 12, 1929, in Brookings, South Dakota, one of two daughters of Forrest and Erma Fenn.  She was a 1947 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School in Johnson County, Kansas. She then studied at William Woods Junior College, and graduated from University of Missouri with a degree in English. Prior to her marriage, she worked for the Hereford Press, American Hereford Journal and the American Hereford Association.  Dorothy married James Edward Hamilton, on Oct. 15, 1954 in Fairway, Kansas.  They were married 50 years. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sister, Norma Louise White.

She is survived by her children, Thomas James Hamilton (Linda), Versailles, MO, Patricia Ann Siren and Daniel Edward Hamilton (Laura), both of Independence, MO along with 4 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 4 great-grandchildren.
