Doris Nadine Harkness, 85, of Grain Valley, Missouri, died Sunday, June 2, 2013. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Doris was born June 12, 1927 in Strasburg, Missouri, and was the daughter of Frank and Cora (Thomas) Clark. She retired from Honeywell in 1989 after 31 years of service. She married Bob Harkness on March 10, 1972. They lived in the Kansas City area and later to Grain Valley where she remained until her death. Doris loved sitting on her patio, surrounded by her many flowers and visiting with her neighbors. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers: Harold Clark & J.C. Clark; and sister, Vivian.
His survivors include her brother, Glen R. Clark of Independence; daughter, Marsha Thompson and her husband, Butch of Odessa, MO; daughter, Debbie Hubbard and her husband, Ron of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren: Barbara Owens, Steven Hunnell, Blake Hubbard, Rebecca Gurera, Kristin Smith, Brett Hubbard, Chester Thompson Jr., Sarah Thompson; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
