Richard W. Lively


Richard “Rich” Warren Lively,78, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab in Oak Grove, Missouri. 

Rich was born on May 7, 1943, in New Rockford, North Dakota, to William E. Lively and Alice Trowbridge.  He attended school in New Rockford and 2 years of college at NDSU in Fargo, ND.  Rich married Veronica Lies on December 29, 1968, in Fargo.  He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.  Rich learned the electrical trade in New Rockford and joined the IBEW electrical union local 1426.  He later became a master electrician in Mandan, ND.  In his youth, Rich worked for his brother, William Lively, who owned Skippy Construction of Moorhead, MN.  

Rich & Bunny welcomed 4 daughters in North Dakota and later moved to Napoleon, MO, where they have lived for the last 32 years.  Rich was an excellent carpenter; he loved fishing, hunting, horseback riding, singing, and playing guitar. He was an avid Chiefs fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids.  He loved the Lord and always did what he thought was right, no matter the consequences.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; 4 siblings: William, Ella Mae, Robert C., and Clifford Lively; and beloved grandson, Drew.

His surviving relatives include his wife, Veronica Lively; 4 daughters: Tammy Shroyer and husband Josh, Trisha Vann and husband Joe, Tiffanie Harris and husband Delaney, and Tara Silver and husband Randy; 10 grandchildren: Nate Shroyer, Daniel, Eliana, Shaun, Rebekah, William, & Alexandra Vann, Kara & Anthonie Toms, and Keith Silver; 2 sisters, Lorraine Calvert and Phyllis Smerud; and many nieces and nephews.

Rich will be greatly missed.
