Alva E. “Al” Holland, was called to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Mr. Holland was born July 17, 1927 in Sheldon, Missouri. He attended school in Nevada. Al lived most of his life in the Kansas City, Independence, and Oak Grove area. He served in the United States Navy for 8 ½ years. He was self-employed most of his life. He worked on a dairy farm, was a Millwright, and owned Al’s Service Station & Maintenance. Al also worked for General Motors and was last employed for several years at Walmart in Oak Grove. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, House of Rising Sun, Blue Lodge in North Kansas City, and the Ararat Shrine in the Motor Core. He was active in Cross Creek Baptist Mission Church in Oak Grove.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Everett L. and Mary J. “Josie” (Gard) Holland; daughter, Judy Richards; and sister, Mary French.
His survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Ellen “Lee” Holland; daughter, Jerri Frizell of Paola, KS; two step-children: William “Bill” Duckworth & Tammy (Duckworth) Ham; one sister; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends, ALL of whom he dearly loved.
