Mary Jane Howard, 86, of Grain Valley, Missouri, formerly of Raytown, passed away February 27, 2010 at Monterey Park Nursing Center, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3rd at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
Jane was born on January 6, 1924, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Fredrick and Lula (Stanturf) Morris. She was a Tax Examiner at the IRS for 22 years, retiring in 1988. Jane owned and operated Riverbend Opry in Atchison, KS with her husband, Ray from 1984 to 1992.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband Ray; sister Betty; and brothers Bill & David.
Her survivors include her sister: Marty Shaffer of Kansas City, MO; son, Randall Howard of Grain Valley, MO; daughters: Kathy Chitwood & husband, Larry, and Gayle Craighead & husband, Woody, all of Grain Valley; grandchildren: Chad Chitwood, Nick Chitwood & wife, Mandy, Mitch Chitwood, Kelly Craighead, & Bonnie Craighead; great-granddaughter: Tori Chitwood; and many nieces & nephews.
